Committee Meeting Rooms
The parlementary committees meet in various rooms of the federal parliament building reserved for this purpose. Meetings are held in camera and the committees’ discussons are confidential. The committees play an essential role in the discussions surrounding the issues dealt with by parliament. Each Council has legislative committees (10 for the National Council and 9 for the Council of States) as well as supervisory committees (2 for each Council). In exceptional circumstances, the Councils may also set up special committees.
