The South Façade

The south façade towers above the River Aare and looks across to the Bernese Alps. A broad bowed wall, behind which are the “Salle des pas perdus” and the National Council chamber, is decorated with six Corinthian-style sculptures representing the Swiss people. Each figure depicts a typical Swiss activity (from left to right: a soldier, a craftsman, an intellectual, a tradesman and a farmer).
